If your Honda model's battery was recently disconnected or replaced, you may notice your audio or navigation system now requires an unlock code. Don't worry -- this is a common anti-theft feature, and retrieving your Honda radio or navigation code is easier than you might think.
At Morganton Honda, we're here to help North Carolina Honda owners throughout the state restore access to their in-vehicle tech quickly and confidently. All you need is a few key pieces of information, and you'll be back to enjoying your audio or nav system in no time.

What You'll Need to Unlock Your Honda System
To retrieve your radio or navigation unlock code, you'll need:
- Your vehicle's 17-digit VIN (Vehicle Identification Number)
- The serial number of your radio or navigation unit
- A valid email address and your zip code
Once you have that info, head to the official Honda code retrieval tool to enter your details and get your unique code.
How to Find Your Honda Model's VIN
Your VIN is a 17-character identifier unique to your Honda. You can find it:
- At the base of the windshield on the driver's side
- On your vehicle registration or insurance card
- On Honda service paperwork or your purchase agreement
Tip: VINs include only the letters A-Z and numbers 0-9. Be careful not to confuse 0 with O or 1 with I.

How to Find Your Serial Number
Depending on your model year and equipment, your serial number may be displayed on the radio screen or found on an anti-theft ID card in the glove box. Here's how to locate it:
For Most Models (2001 and newer)
- Turn the ignition to ON.
- Turn ON the radio or navigation system. If "CODE" does not appear, pull the backup fuse for 1 minute and repeat.
- Turn OFF the device.
- Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 6, then turn the system ON.
- Two screens will alternate -- one beginning with "U" and another with "L".
Example: U2200 / L0055 → Serial Number: 22000055
For 2003-2007 Accord Models with Navigation
- Turn ignition to ACC (I) and turn on the audio unit.
- If "CODE" appears, turn the system OFF.
- Press and hold the top halves of SEEK/SKIP and CH/DISC, then press the PWR/VOL knob.
- Record the Uxxxx and Lxxxx numbers (ignore the letters) and combine them to get your 8-digit serial number.
Older Models (Pre-2001) or Inaccessible Systems
If your vehicle is older or you can't access the system display, your serial number may only be visible on the back of the radio or navigation unit. This typically requires professional removal and inspection.
In that case, we're happy to help — simply schedule service at Morganton Honda and we'll retrieve the code for you.
