About Marion, NC

Named in honor of Brigadier General Francis Marion, Marion, NC, is a small town at the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Over the years, Marion also became the home of several historic and famous people. It was the home to Sgt. Daneil Kanipe, one of the only two survivors of General Custer's 7th Cavalry that was massacred at the Battle of Little Bighorn.
